What does WeaveInterface do?

Does anyone know what the Weave stuff is? There's a WeaveInterface and the newest release mentions a Weave firmware but I can't find anything else about it or where the firmware is.

Weave is a switching fabric for Reticulum that acts as an abstraction layer over the network topology. It enables remote nodes anywhere on the fabric to be accessed as local interfaces regardless of physical distance and number of hops.
