i can't clone the repos on mark's Aleph Git
i'm assuming this is because i need to identify myself to the node
but git-remote-rns doesn't have that sorta feature
is there something i'm missing or does nobody clone those repos over reticulum anymore?

If you find rngit to stall, my advice is to setup rnsd as a daemon on your computer that starts at first boot with systemd/whatever. If it has to spawn an rns instance at boot I notice it can hang or stall sometimes.
For fetching through rngit on Aleph you don't need to identify
