# NomadNet: Is it possible to dp an OFFLINE-INSTALLATION of NomadNet (on a Linux distro) and if so, how exactly? _Help · started by MOI on Fri, Sep 4, 2026 2:35 AM_ --- ## Original post **MOI** · Fri, Sep 4, 2026 2:35 AM Hello people! I have a question which I have not been able to answer myself... I regularly download the NomadNet Repository with this computer, but have never been able to install the 'nomadnet~.pip' file on another computer, on which I want to install 'nomadnet~.py'... I don't have pip on this computer and so I would like to be able to download something on this computer (using tor!) and install 'nomadnet~.py' on the other one. I played around with MeshChat, with MeshChatX, and with Sideband, which all have 'AppImages', so that was very easy to install. I guess Mark (The Mark!) has an adequate answer (as he does most of the time), but everybody else is welcome to help me with this one. Thanks in advance! P.s. Mark, what you have been doing during the last 12 to 13 years of your life is really amazing. You could say I'm a fan of you, since 4 years almost. Not only a fan of you as a programmer, but also as a great thinker and a good communicator and, especially as somebody with a problematic immunesystem that does not give up but persists in trying to achieve something GOOD in a world seems getting worse day by day. If the offline computer has no pip at all use pip.pyz which is a standalone version of Pip https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/installation/#standalone-zip-application Then from the online computer chuck all of the .whl's and pip.pyz onto a flash drive like: `python3 -m pip download nomadnet -d nomadnet_offline --only-binary=:all: --python-version 3.11 --implementation cp --platform manylinux2014_aarch64` Pip has a SOCKS proxy option so if you wanted to use Tor on the online computer to download Nomad and RNS wheels just add `--proxy socks5h://127.0.0.1:9050` Specify `--platform` with your actual platform That will give you all of the .whl's and put them in a folder called nomadnet_offline. Wauw, I thought it wasn't easy, but this is very much less easy than I thought. But, Zenith, also known as 'RFnexus', if my memory serves me well, thank you very much for your extended answer! I'm going to try to follow your steps, I think it's going to be tomorrow, but I will let you know if I have succeeded. Thanks again, also for your quick reaction!! Oh, and before I forget it, thank you also for your contributions to the Reticulum Ecosystem, especially for your contributions to NomadNet, which put you on the second place, behind Mark, but far before anybody else. I know what Mark has done, I know what Steve Miller (a.k.a. 'kc1awv'), 'fr33n0w' and you have done for the Reticulum Ecosystem. There are, of course, more people that have contributed, but the 4 I just mentioned are fixed in my memory. And I already have all the 'nomad~.whl's', which I have not downloaded with the terminal, but just from the websites themselves (GitHub.com and-or PyPi.org), which, I guess is not a very smart thing to do, but I'm not experienced in using the terminal.
