RTNode for RAK 4631 ?

Question RNode

Hello,

I have a WisMesh Repeater Mini lying around. It's from an older Meshtastic network.

It is a solar LoRa kit. Basically for me it is a set and forget device. I tossed it on my roof and never have to bother about it. Works great.

So it would make a great repeater for reticulum over LoRa. That would be great to flash it as an RTNode.
As far as I understand, for the moment RTNode only supports Heltec V4, is that right ?

Is there a place where I can follow the development ? Have news about possible new hardware supported, specifically in my case the RAK 4631 ?

Thanks,
Tukan

To answer my own question :

yes, I simply followed the instructions here : https://github.com/attermann/microReticulum_Firmware

Hello,

I tested :

  1. https://github.com/markqvist/RNode_Firmware
Works fine, but I can't get the sensors working (led, temperature sensor, gps, buzzer)
  2. https://github.com/attermann/microReticulum_Firmware
Same as 1, but there's no need to have a Tag acting as a standalone transport node. That said, I can't wait to see support of ethernet so I can install it on my other RAK4631 Wismesh blocks (not the Wismesh Tags).
  3. https://github.com/thatSFguy/reticulum-lora-repeater
I tested it today, and it works well. However, I think it is worth mentioning that this firmware turns the device into a dedicated repeater. In practice, this means the device can no longer be used as an RNode, or for other purposes, while running that firmware. This surprised me a bit at first. I believe attermann/microReticulum_Firmware may behave differently, but I still need to look into it in more detail.

All of them are working fine, and I am pretty sure that sensor support will come with time.

Let me know how it goes for you!

Good luck :)
