Hi ozCleric. It preety cool to see someone from Aus. I am actually in Perth. I am only just getting started with reticulum. But what I really want to do is set up a node that can help extend the range and coverage of the network. Is there any material I should start reading or watch. I am currently reading the manual but I know that I am gonna have to purchase a heltecv4 or v3 board thingy-ma-bob. Either way, any help is appreciated. Also, if this seems like it belong in another section then let me know. :) Either way, have a great day and any response is appreciated ;)

Thanks for the Sydney regional section here. I am ready to start deploying some standalone rNodes, after I get comfortable with my local private network testing.

I am South Western Syd but not as far as Macarthur. I am starting to get the hang of the local rNodes and various interface modes, but I have not connected to the wider network yet.
I am keen to set up an RF only network and am building some standalone nodes with https://github.com/jrl290/RNodeTHV4 and microReticulum_Firmware to use as linking repeaters.

Hey, I was just looking rmap.world and saw that your announced rnode is on 125khz BW. I had read above that the standard for Sydney Reticulum was 250khz BW. Is this an experimental setting for you?
I am configuring a stand alone repeater node now with RAK 3401/13302 1W with LNA at around 135M ASL hoping to start connecting a few areas.
I assume there are more than the 2 rnodes that are on the map in Sydney. Would these be open, or protected by IFAC?
The Abbotsbury Ridge where I am putting the above repeater can see a whole lot of Sydney, with some black spots of course. I was thinking of putting another somewhere around Hurstville.
@Wazmac I am using 125khz bandwidth at the moment for some testing. The Meshcore users in the Sydney area seems to be using the Australia (Mid) settings which is BW 125 SF 9. I wanted to be able to compare the coverage of RNodes to what the Meshcore users are getting.

Yeah, I was part of the push to get the mid 125/9/5 adopted for Meshcore. It has the best of both worlds for me. The Narrow band was too prone to physical interference and the wider 250 was slower.
With only a few nodes around 250 is definitely better. When we were on 250 SF11 I could get to Staples in Central Coast consistently from my repeater on the ridge near home. When we dropped to narrow I lost contact with most other metro nodes util the call to really build out the network took hold. Then when we went to 125, there were enough nodes to carry it.
I'm using SF9 BW 250 because I need the throughput more then I need lora range; I have other ways to backhaul reticulum better suited to such links. I also have reasonable lora coverage in my area of use across multiple RNodes using SF9 BW250
Although I have found some success with SF 11 BW 250 with the mode set to gateway and the account_cap set to 4%
I have just checked Rmap and I can see a new rnode around your way @ozCleric on SF11 and @dio also on SF11. Are we testing that for now?

dunno, I haven't co-ordinated anything with DIO; I've got a stack of Rnodes out but only advertising one.
Sydney RNS page has been updated with links to HADARC and the new Sydney based RNGIT mirror of Reticulum, LXST, LXMF, Nomadnet, and Sideband
I have changed over my rNodes to SF11 for now as well, to see if this supports enough range to network with sparse deployment. I am not licenced so don't have other longer range options. I am having trouble with the RAK 1W unit getting the 13302 module working properly so pulled it down again. I have some more Heltec v4s without display on order to put up as stand alone rNodes.
I am also having some issues with getting links established for remote monitoring. I think this is related to cadence of interference interrupting link establishment and delivery. Annoucements and LXMF delivery seems fine over same conditions.
